PAX-it version 7.0 has been released by MIS, Inc., a software development firm in Villa Park IL, now in its 20th year. The new version is the 40th version release of PAX-it since the breakthrough imaging software transitioned to the Windows platform in 1994. PAX-it v7.0 continues to focus heavily on image management, measurements, and analsyis, especially targeted to scientific and industrial applications.
“Version 7.0 includes the most significant enhancements to the primary PAX-it user interface in many years”, explains Tom Vuke, VP of Imaging at MIS. “Managing the assets of a project — whether images, reports, presentations, analytical data, or other files —is made more convenient and streamlined by a new folder window that allows many shortcuts to the workflow. Some changes may appear to be subtle but the user benefit is great, resulting in more efficient operation. Other changes are less subtle, especially the redesigned workspace that allows multiple folder contents to be viewed at once, along with opened images, ID tags, and notes. With thousands of licenses in use worldwide, it was important that we provide going-forward options for our existing users. Long-term users have the option to continue to use the standard PAX-it interface to which they've been accustomed, or they can choose the increased flexibility and functionality offered by the new interface.”
PAX-it utilizes a database as well as a browsable interface for managing images in a searchable collection. Chris Jahns, VP of Sales, states, “The search results for the PAX-it database have undergone some major enhancements in this new version, similar to the redesign of the folder views. Image icons are shown in the table of data, and are adjustable in size by the user to match their preferences. Image sorting can be achieved by any database field, and images may be tagged for further review. Once assets are brought together into a search results table, they may be worked upon by a newly expanded toolbar of functions.”
The new interface is a significant achievement in furthering the already user-friendly nature of the PAX-it experience. “Our PAXcam digital cameras continue to provide the front-end to easily preview and capture high resolution micro and macro images, and by integrating PAX-it v7.0 with our digital cameras, the customer has the tools required to easily create, organize, manage, and communicate with their image collection, “ Vuke explains. “Feature enhancements in PAX-it v7.0 are not limited to the base PAX-it management software, but extend to the expandable modules for measurements, image analysis, and networking as well.” Jahns summarizes, “MIS is committed to significant development of our hardware and software products on a regular basis, as part of the service we provide to our customers in the markets that we serve.”
MIS, now celebrating its 20th anniversary, is a privately owned company based in the Chicago suburb of Villa Park, IL, serving customers in the US and internationally.
